Can the environment be considered a system state?

The environment is external to the system we want to control. However, we can think of the environment as defining the exogenous variables to the system under consideration. They influence the performance of the system and we seek to attenuate the effect of external disturbances via feedback. --Soto 17:37, 3 October 2007 (PDT)
